Superintendent John Gullatt issues the following release relative to Winnsboro Elementary School:
“The Franklin Parish School District, like other districts across the State, is continuing its efforts to combat COVID-19 and to protect students and employees as much as possible. At Winnsboro Elementary School, a sufficient number of teachers are in quarantine such that the school is unable to staff the school without combining classes. Significantly increasing student numbers in a classroom by assigning additional students is inconsistent with the protocol the District has put in place to limit the spread of the virus. Accordingly, Winnsboro Elementary School will be closed to students from Friday, February 12 until Tuesday, February 23. Teachers will return on Monday, February 22. We wish to reiterate that this decision is not the result of a large-scale outbreak of the virus but is necessitated by the quarantine of a sufficient number of teachers and staff which impairs our ability to follow our COVID guidelines. During the closure, student lunches will be available for pickup during those days on which school would have been open, and lesson module packs will be provided to students.”
